Working at this Cincinnati public relations agency, it’s my job to become an expert in the product or service of our clients. Throughout the past four years I’ve learned quite a bit about transportation improvements, but my favorite thing I’ve learned so far is about the innovative traffic formations these engineer folk come up with to ease congestion, increase safety and increase economic development.

Case in point: The Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI)

According to the Anderson Township website, the continuous flow intersection is a “new and unusual” formation that “effectively moves the left-turning traffic left of approaching vehicles before the intersection, so as to eliminate one or more cycles from the intersection signal. In addition, through the introduction of divider areas, it also can accommodate pedestrian traffic, even at high volume intersections.”
