KY 536 Scoping Study
The Client: Parsons Brinckerhoff, for the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI)
Their Challenge: “For this project to be a success, we need to actively engage local residents, property owners, businesses and local and regional community leaders in the process of identifying a preferred alternative for improvements to KY 536, between KY 17 and the Kenton/Campbell county line.”
Our Solution: We formulated a public involvement strategy that engaged local and regional stakeholders from the outset and involved them in every phase of the study process. Community and business leaders were enlisted to participate on an advisory committee which regularly met with project representatives to oversee the study process and provide vital review and input. We also prepared a clearly-defined message platform, a project website, held multiple public meetings and collected additional public feedback via online surveys at key study milestones.
The Results: The project team used the ongoing feedback received from the public to zero in on community values and needs, narrow improvement options and ultimately identify a preferred alternative that was accepted by the community, all within a period of one year.
